The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Moral:
Once an Ancient Mariner and some others sailors had gone to sail the great Pacific Ocean. One day the old Ancient Mariner killed an Albatross without any definite reason. As a result he got a heart touching punishment and finally redemption. The moral of the ballad is to "showing love to the all creatures of God without making any distinction.
English Summary (ইংরেজি সামারি)
At first we see that the ancient comes a wedding party and he stops one of the three wedding guests. The ancient mariner has long beard and glittering eyes. Then, he(mariner) starts to tell his story to the guests. Though the guest doesn’t want to hear the story but the ancient mariner holds him by his glittering eyas. Then he starts to narrate his story in this way " There was a ship".The ship was going below the church and beside the hill.
At first it was running to the south pole.But the weather was not so good so the ship was running to the country of mist and snow. Around the ship, there were big sizes icebergs those were broking with a huge noice. At a time the sailors saw an Albatross. They called it "Christian soul or the soul of God". The albatross was a symbol of good things. When it appeared the storm was stoped it and the sea became so calm. So the passengers and sailors thought that it was a soul of an Angel from Heaven. Everyday the sailors gave food to the albatross but one day the ancient mariner kills the albatross by his crossbow without any apparent reason.
In the next stanza the poet tells that now there ship was running towards the north side.And at the time, the sea was calm. There were no stormy wind. So all the sailors think that the ancient mariner has done the right thing to kill the Albatross. Now, they thought that the Albatross was the symbol of bad luck. It brought mist and snow for them. Now there sheep was running smoothly. But after a few moments, the wind fall down and the mast dropped down.
Now it is time to their punishment. The weather was so hot and there ship was standing into the midsea like a painted ship upon a painted ocean. They haven’t enough food and drinking water so they become very thirsty. They try to pray to the Christ. The death fires were dancing around the ship at night. The colour of water looks like witches oil. They could not utter a sound because their throats were dried due to thirsty. They all were suffering an intolerable misery. So the others sailors hanged the Albatross at the ancient mariner neck as a punishment.
Here, the poet describes the present situation of the ancient mariner and his companions.They were passing a very weary time. Because they had no food and no drinking water. Though they were into the middle of the sea but they don’t have a single drop of drinking water. The poet narrates it in this way,
Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink".
Suddenly the ancient mariner saw something in the west side. At first it looked like a speak then a mist and finally a shape. It was coming mysteriously. They thought that it was coming to help them. They thought now they might get food and water from it. So, the ancient mariner wants to shout but his throat was dried so he couldn’t utter a sound. As a result, he bites his own arm and drink blood for shouting. It was the last season of a day that symbolises the decaying day.
The ship was coming without breeze, without tide. It's mast was like a spider's web. Then the ancient mariner sees a horrible thing. He was almost astonished to see the ship. It was a spectre shil and it's crew were the Death and Life-in-Death. They were playing dice. Life-in-Death wins the ancient mariner by winning the game. When the ship comes to them to was almost dark everywhere. As Life-in-Death wins the ancient mariner so all other sailors lost their life without uttering a single word. There was only a sound "whiz". This sound seemed that it was the sound of a crossbow.
To hear the story of Ancient Mariner the wedding guest becomes frightened. He wants to leave but the ancient mariner holds him by his glittering eyes. Then the ancient mariner starts again to tell about his journey. The says that all the sailors were dead so he was alone into the wide sea but no Saint took pity for his course. Everything on the ship look like rotting. The ancient mariner wants to pray to God but he could not utter a sound because he was thirsty. Suddenly he saw some water snakes beside the ship. They were golden in colour. The ancient mariner blessed them unconsciously to see their beauty. At the same time he able to pray and the dead albatross fall down from his neck. So he got relieved from his punishment.
Into the next stanza the poet narrets that then the ancient mariner was slept by the grace of Mary Queen. He(The Ancient Mariner) saw a dream and when he wokes up it was raining. Suddenly a supernatural event happened. All the dead sailors woke up with growning. So the wedding guest again become frightened. But the ancient mariner aasures the wedding guest that it was not the souls of the death men. Then Ancient Mariner heared to voices in the air.
One was "The voice of Justice" and another was "The voice of Mercy". The voice of Justice asked the Voice of Mercy " Is this the man who killed the innocent albatross without any reason and for whom all the sailors suffered an unbearable punishment?" The voice of Mercy replied the he(The Ancient Mariner) got a lot of punishment for his crime.So now itnis time to his relieve.

একবার একজন প্রাচীন মেরিনার এবং আরও কিছু নাবিক মহান প্রশান্ত মহাসাগরে যাত্রা করতে গিয়েছিল। একদিন বৃদ্ধ প্রাচীন মেরিনার কোনো নির্দিষ্ট কারণ ছাড়াই একটি অ্যালবাট্রসকে হত্যা করেছিল। ফলস্বরূপ, তিনি একটি হৃদয়স্পর্শী শাস্তি এবং অবশেষে মুক্তি পান। গানের নৈতিকতা হল "কোনও পার্থক্য না করেই ঈশ্বরের সমস্ত প্রাণীর প্রতি ভালবাসা প্রদর্শন করা।

প্রথমে আমরা দেখতে পাই যে প্রাচীন একটি বিবাহের পার্টি আসে এবং সে বিয়ের তিনজন অতিথির একজনকে থামিয়ে দেয়। প্রাচীন নাবিকের লম্বা দাড়ি এবং চকচকে চোখ রয়েছে। তারপর, তিনি (নাবিক) অতিথিদের কাছে তার গল্প বলতে শুরু করেন। যদিও অতিথি গল্পটি শুনতে চায় না কিন্তু প্রাচীন নাবিক তাকে তার চকচকে চোখ দিয়ে ধরে রাখে। তারপর সে তার গল্প বলতে শুরু করে এভাবে "একটি জাহাজ ছিল"। জাহাজটি চার্চের নিচে এবং পাহাড়ের পাশে যাচ্ছিল।
প্রথমে এটি দক্ষিণ মেরুর দিকে ছুটছিল৷ কিন্তু আবহাওয়া তেমন ভালো ছিল না তাই জাহাজটি কুয়াশা আর তুষার দেশের দিকে ছুটছিল৷ জাহাজের চারপাশে, বড় আকারের আইসবার্গ ছিল যেগুলি বিশাল আওয়াজ দিয়ে ভাঙছিল। এক সময় নাবিকরা একটি অ্যালবাট্রস দেখতে পান। তারা একে "খ্রিস্টান আত্মা বা ঈশ্বরের আত্মা" বলে অভিহিত করেছিল। অ্যালবাট্রস ছিল ভালো জিনিসের প্রতীক। যখন ঝড় দেখা গেল তখন তা থেমে গেল এবং সমুদ্র এতটাই শান্ত হয়ে গেল। তাই যাত্রী এবং নাবিকরা ভেবেছিল যে এটি স্বর্গের একজন দেবদূতের আত্মা। প্রতিদিন নাবিকরা অ্যালবাট্রসকে খাবার দিত কিন্তু একদিন প্রাচীন নাবিক কোনো আপাত কারণ ছাড়াই আলবাট্রসকে তার ক্রসবো দ্বারা হত্যা করে।
পরের স্তবকে কবি বলেছেন যে এখন জাহাজ উত্তর দিকে ছুটছিল। আর তখন সমুদ্র শান্ত ছিল। ঝড়ো বাতাস ছিল না। তাই সমস্ত নাবিকরা মনে করেন যে প্রাচীন নাবিক আলবাট্রসকে হত্যা করার জন্য সঠিক কাজটি করেছেন। এখন, তারা ভেবেছিল যে অ্যালবাট্রস দুর্ভাগ্যের প্রতীক। এটি তাদের জন্য কুয়াশা এবং তুষার নিয়ে এসেছিল। এখন সেখানে ভেড়াগুলো নির্বিঘ্নে চলছিল। কিন্তু কয়েক মুহূর্ত পরেই হাওয়ায় মাস্তুল নিচে নেমে যায়।
এখন তাদের শাস্তির পালা। আবহাওয়া এত গরম ছিল এবং জাহাজটি একটি আঁকা সমুদ্রের উপর একটি আঁকা জাহাজের মতো মধ্যসাগরে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিল। তাদের পর্যাপ্ত খাবার এবং পানীয় জল নেই তাই তারা খুব তৃষ্ণার্ত হয়ে পড়ে। তারা খ্রীষ্টের কাছে প্রার্থনা করার চেষ্টা করে। রাতে জাহাজের চারপাশে মরণ আগুন নেচে উঠছিল। পানির রঙ দেখতে ডাইনির তেলের মতো। তৃষ্ণায় গলা শুকিয়ে যাওয়ায় তারা কোনো শব্দও করতে পারেনি। তারা সবাই এক অসহনীয় দুর্ভোগ পোহাচ্ছিল। তাই অন্য নাবিকরা শাস্তি হিসেবে অ্যালবাট্রসকে প্রাচীন মেরিনারের গলায় ঝুলিয়ে দেয়।
এখানে কবি প্রাচীন নাবিক ও তার সঙ্গীদের বর্তমান অবস্থা বর্ণনা করেছেন। তারা খুব ক্লান্ত সময় পার করছিল। কারণ তাদের খাবার ছিল না এবং পানীয় জলও ছিল না। যদিও তারা সমুদ্রের মাঝখানে ছিল কিন্তু তাদের কাছে এক ফোঁটা পানীয় জল নেই। কবি বর্ণনা করেছেন এভাবে,
জল, জল, সর্বত্র,
এবং সমস্ত বোর্ড সঙ্কুচিত হয়েছিল;
জল, জল, সর্বত্র,
পান করার জন্য কোন ফোঁটাও নয়।"

প্রাচীন মেরিনারের গল্প শুনতে বিয়ের অতিথি ভয় পেয়ে যায়। সে চলে যেতে চায় কিন্তু প্রাচীন নাবিক তার চকচকে চোখ দিয়ে তাকে ধরে রেখেছে। তারপর প্রাচীন নাবিক আবার তার যাত্রা সম্পর্কে বলতে শুরু করে। তিনি বলেন যে সমস্ত নাবিক মারা গিয়েছিল তাই তিনি বিস্তৃত সমুদ্রে একা ছিলেন কিন্তু কোন সাধু তার পথের জন্য করুণা করেননি। জাহাজের সবকিছু পচন ধরেছে। প্রাচীন নাবিক ঈশ্বরের কাছে প্রার্থনা করতে চেয়েছিলেন কিন্তু তিনি তৃষ্ণার্ত বলে একটি শব্দও উচ্চারণ করতে পারেননি। হঠাৎ সে জাহাজের পাশে কিছু জলের সাপ দেখতে পেল। তারা সোনালী রঙের ছিল। প্রাচীন নাবিক তাদের সৌন্দর্য দেখতে অচেতনভাবে তাদের আশীর্বাদ করেছিলেন। একই সময়ে তিনি প্রার্থনা করতে সক্ষম হন এবং মৃত অ্যালবাট্রস তার ঘাড় থেকে নিচে পড়ে যায়। তাই সে তার শাস্তি থেকে মুক্তি পেয়েছে।
পরবর্তী স্তবকটিতে কবি বর্ণনা করেছেন যে তখন প্রাচীন মেরিনার মেরি কুইনের অনুগ্রহে ঘুমিয়েছিলেন। তিনি (প্রাচীন মেরিনার) একটি স্বপ্ন দেখেছিলেন এবং যখন তিনি জেগে উঠেছিলেন তখন বৃষ্টি হচ্ছিল। হঠাৎ একটা অতিপ্রাকৃত ঘটনা ঘটে গেল। সমস্ত মৃত নাবিকরা বড় হয়ে জেগে উঠল। তাই আবারও আতঙ্কিত হয়ে পড়েন বিয়ের অতিথি। কিন্তু প্রাচীন মেরিনার বিবাহের অতিথিকে আশ্বস্ত করেন যে এটি মৃত পুরুষদের আত্মা ছিল না। তারপরে প্রাচীন মেরিনার বাতাসে কণ্ঠস্বর শুনতে পান।
একটি ছিল "দ্য ভয়েস অফ জাস্টিস" এবং অন্যটি "দ্য ভয়েস অফ মার্সি"। ন্যায়বিচারের কণ্ঠস্বর করুণার কণ্ঠকে জিজ্ঞাসা করেছিল "এই কি সেই লোক যে নির্দোষ অ্যালবাট্রসকে কোনো কারণ ছাড়াই হত্যা করেছিল এবং যার জন্য সমস্ত নাবিকরা অসহনীয় শাস্তি ভোগ করেছিল?" রহমতের কন্ঠে উত্তর দিল সে (প্রাচীন মেরিনার) তার অপরাধের জন্য অনেক শাস্তি পেয়েছে। তাই এখন তার মুক্তির সময় এসেছে।

Kubla Khan is a fragmentary poem written by S. T. Coleridge in his vision. Here the poet wanted to build an imaginary dome.
First Kubla Khan the grandson of Genghis Khan wanted to build a pleasure dome at his summer capital Xanadu on the sacred river Alph. So he selected 10 miles fertile land. It was a savage place. There a woman was willing for her demon lover. In the midst of all the rush and roar of waters, Kubla Khan heard the departed sprits of his ancestors warning him about the war ahead.
Here, the poet saw in his vision that a young Abyssinian maid was singing Mount Abora with his dulcimer.Then, the poet wished that he could by some chance rouse within himself the memory of that music and song. Then he would create a new and pleasure house in the air by the strains of music.

কুবলা খান এস.টি. কোলরিজ তাঁর দৃষ্টিতে লেখা একটি খণ্ডিত কবিতা। এখানে কবি একটি কাল্পনিক গম্বুজ নির্মাণ করতে চেয়েছিলেন।
প্রথমে চেঙ্গিস খানের নাতি কুবলা খান তার গ্রীষ্মকালীন রাজধানী জিয়ানাডুতে পবিত্র আলফ নদীর উপর একটি আনন্দ গম্বুজ তৈরি করতে চেয়েছিলেন। তাই তিনি 10 মাইল উর্বর জমি নির্বাচন করেন। এটি একটি বর্বর জায়গা ছিল। সেখানে একজন মহিলা তার রাক্ষস প্রেমিকের জন্য ইচ্ছুক ছিলেন। সমস্ত ভিড় এবং জলের গর্জনের মাঝে, কুবলা খান তার পূর্বপুরুষদের বিদেহী স্প্রিটগুলি তাকে সামনের যুদ্ধ সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করতে শুনলেন।
